Witnessing first hand the tremendous progress a high level natural lifestyle was affording my daughter, I became a strong  activist for health. I formed a nutrition committee at the largest public school on Staten Island. I also won a grant from the American Cancer Society for a program entitled, Expanding Horizons, which involved ten third grade classes in an exploration of the difference a healthy lifestyle would make in their lives. While the children loved the learnings their parents were not enthralled. I guess I was perceived as a challenge.

Meanwhile, I took Expanding Horizons to the Greater Metropolitan Social Studies Conference; and then, on to The Middle Atlandtic States Social Studies Conference.  I also taught Science for a few years during which time my school repeatedly won awards at the annual Science Fair; and yet, I was perceived as problematic.

Since those active days Staten Island has become known as “Heroin Island” and has become badly infested with drugs.
Now it has the highest rate of confirmed corona virus cases of NYC inhabitants testing positive for COV-ID19 which as you are well aware is posing a huge crisis for New York City. On top of that schools are beginning to report that members are testing positive. https://www.silive.com/coronavirus/2020/03/staten-island-reaches-highest-rate-of-confirmed-coronavirus-cases-in-city.html Sure wish there had been ‘a listening’ to my teachings that improved lifestyles would bring a healthier next generation. Indeed, a basic blood chemistry wards off disease! It seems to have gone in the opposite direction with acidic pHs gravitating towards harder and harder drugs and ultimately becoming very sick!

And that is why I am so very Sad for Staten Island!
