Beware of this one.
Professor Ambrose Penwose, Kiwi
Good Evening,
I read an article in my favorite magazine, AREN’T YOU GLAD YOU’RE RETIRED with this headline,
HOW TO ANSWER 14 COMMON BUT TRICKY INTERVIEW QUESTIONS.
I must confess, the article is about job hunting, so I did not actually read it, just snickered at it a bit.
I was looking to see if my favorite question was there, and how they answered it. To my surprise it was not on the list.
You may have heard me mention this before as I am quite fond of it…HAVE YOU ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
BEWARE OF THAT ONE! IT IS A TRICK QUESTION!
Here is the correct way to answer it…
“A HA! Do I look like a fool? Do you think I know not nothing?
I happen to recognize that as a trick question,
ALL EXPERIENCE IS PREVIOUS!”
I’ve used that answer many many times and always walked out of the building with my head held high, headed for the next one.
Penwose Out.

I was asked a trick question once by a CIA recruiter that went like this. If you received a signal from a Soviet satellite, could you translate it? I stupidly replied, knowing that I would be on a team of the best electrical and language experts there were, "Of course, given time and resources." The recruiter promptly told me that I wasn't, "CIA material." Later, I feel that was probably the best thing that happened to me, given the kinds of activities the CIA has engaged in.
The "trick" in the question was that early Soviet satellites did not have radio transmitters but a simple "beep" like Sputnik. I was supposed to know that, and I didn't. Thank goodness!
Bye, George,
Ron
