How to Have the Mindset of a Wealthy Person

Some people believe that wealth is only for the lucky few, who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. But what most people are unaware of is many persons who are financially successful were not born wealthy. Being financially successful is only going to happen when you constantly think about and strive towards it. Contrary to belief, formal education have little to do with financial success. It is not what you know but what you do with what you know. Most financiers at the turn of the century in America had no formal education, but were still able to overcome that limitation by using the little that they know to develop the wisdom to create wealth.

In order to have the mindset to achieve wealth, certain crucial points should be borne in mind:

  • You should study the people who have accomplished the financial success that you desire. It does not make sense to ask someone who is paying rent about real estate investment in Manhattan. Equally, it is nonsensical to ask someone who has not even written a book about becoming a best-selling author. You need to learn form people that have trodden the path which you intend to travel on. You can do this by buying Cd's, DVD's, and books from wealth magnates or attend the seminars or workshops which they are speaking at.
  • Make a decision to be proactive and design your own life plan. John Rohn said that, "If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you will fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much!" If you do not plan your life, somebody else will! When you refuse to plan your life then you give away your personal power and the right to allow people to manipulate or use you.
  • Take some time out to reflect on your own aspirations. Look within yourself to decide what is the best route to take on your journey to fame and fortune, based on your personality, character, personal vision and goals.

After following the tips mentioned above, you should be on your way to developing the mindset of a financially successful person. In order to have the mindset of a wealth magnate, you need to first understand how him or her thinks. Here are some points of note which indicate the level of consciousness of the wealth magnate when compared to the masses:

  • Millionaires and billionaires are considered are convicted by their personal values and goals. Values make you valuable. Personal convictions are the foundation for developing spiritual or inner wealth. Developing spiritual wealth is important in creating physical wealth. This is because you can only produce or reproduce what is within you. If you have no inner values then do not expect to produce or reproduce value in your physical world. You need to value yourself enough to stay true to your personal convictions and belief systems, especially when these belief systems are producing results in your own life.
  • Wealth magnates take full responsibility for their own lives and do not blame other people, circumstances, or systems for their present financial situation. When they do this, they are taking their personal power from people and circumstances. They are able to develop the mindset of a victor--and not a victim. These persons are proactive and not reactive. They take initiative and action when pursuing their goals and dreams. They think for themselves--they refuse to allow others to think for them. People who allow others to think for them are apart of the herd. But wealth magnates never follow the herd, they always blaze a trail on their own path, which bring us to the next point:
  • Most millionaires and billionaires are non-conformists. Since these people are so proactive and individualistic, they may, at first, come across as being strange, odd, weird or even eccentric. But there is another thing you should know about wealthy people: they do not care about what other people think about them. They just continue doing what is required of them to pursue their goals and dreams. They are too focused on what they need to do be doing to achieve their goals to dwell on people's negative criticisms concerning them. They put on mental and spiritual blinkers to block out destructive criticisms meant to hurt them. Voltaire wrote the following: "Never having being able to succeed in the world, they took revenge by speaking ill of it." The affluent know that, "Great minds discuss; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people (unknown source)." The wealthy focus on discussing ideas and concepts to build and generate wealth. They do not participate in, entertain, listen to or focus on gossip and negativity.
  • Most wealthy people are disciplined and focused on attaining a goal. The affluent do not just set goals but they work towards achieving them.  They integrate their goal setting into their daily routine. It is said that the major difference between the millionaire and billionaire is that the billionaire is more disciplined in his or her daily goal setting and achieving than millionaire. The affluent always write their tasks down for either the week or day and attempt to achieve them. If they cannot accomplish a particular goal then re-evaluate or re-work it by breaking down the goal into manageable steps or scrap it altogether if it seems implausible to the accomplishment of their overall plan.

The main reason why people are not financially independent is not because of the economic system or the government. If this was the case then many millionaires and billionaires would not have been able to create and grow their wealth during the Great Depression, for instance. The main reason for people being financially limited is their limited and restricted nature of their thinking. When your thinking becomes unlimited then nothing will be able to limit you--not even the economic system or the government.
