We had drive-ins when I was a kid but things were simple. We parked and a carhop came out and took our order. We didn't get one of the drive through things until I was in high school and I"ve got to tell you, it was confusing to a slow thinking squid like myself. So I wrote a poem about it. As usual, I apologize to poets everywhere.
When I was just a young man,
I was driving down the road,
When I spied a brand new restaurant.
But it looked a little odd, you know.
There was a street running down the side
Where, in a window, a feller sat.
I couldn't tell what was going on
Or what he was doing in that.
I saw a sign as I approached,
"Drive Through Window," it said.
It seemed like a strange request to me.
A lot of trouble just to get fed.
But, who am I to argue?
So I drove in as he ran and ducked.
Ordered me a Pepsi and some french fries.
Cost me seven-thousand bucks.
