Well, the health care bill passed but it was a fist fight from start to finish. When I first heard the news, I squealed like a toddler with a brand new tarantula. Then, I cried.
I don't know what the future holds as a result but, speaking as your average over-taxed, under-appreciated citizen, I should probably get used to living poor. I can already feel the icy fingers of death on my bank account (such as it is). After all, the IRS is the greatest example of organized crime in U.S. history and now they'll be monitoring health care insurance. I've decided to put my money in pinto beans. I figure that's what I'll be eating for the next couple of decades.
But, now that the thing has passed, maybe our elected officials will stop the back biting and name calling and get back to business as usual which is.......back biting and name calling. How I long for the good old days of sex scandals, gay liaisons, out of wedlock children, tax evasion, payoffs, bribery, fraud and jail time. What can I say? My generation sucks.
However, it's not all our fault. We were damaged early on. Have you actually read some of the nursery rhymes we heard in school and at bedtime? No wonder we're crazy. Here's one:
"Goosey, Goosey Gander, where shall I wander? Upstairs, downstairs and in my lady's chamber. There I met a man who wouldn't say his prayers. I took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs."
Goosey Gander must have been quite the lady's man what with wandering in and out of his lady's chamber all the time. But then, he caught a man in there. An obvious atheist. Goosey Gander threw him down the stairs and probably finished the job with a crow bar. Goosey Gander was a mafia soldier.
"Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle. The cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed to see such fun and the dish ran away with the spoon."
What is this? An HBO special? The cat's just a musician trying to make a living but Ms. Cow has been taking some pretty powerful hallucinogenics and the little dog has gotten a contact high from somebody. The dish and the spoon? For the sake of the child, I'll keep John Edwards out of it.
"All around the mulberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel. The monkey thought it was all in fun. Pop, goes the weasel."
This was obviously a drug deal gone bad. The monkey wasn't chasing the weasel for just any old reason. And the fact that he thought the whole thing was a hoot is a sure giveaway that he's been using too much of his own inventory. So, he took out his 9-mil and popped the weasel. Why? Hey, he was a weasel. At least that's what the strange reptile in my closet says. He's actually an intergalactic traveler from the planet Racnad. His real name is Nic Yank Hama Woink which loosely translates as, "My freeg-lounder be busted".
"Peter Peter Pumpkin eater. Had a wife and couldn't keep her. He put her in a pumpkin shell. There he kept her very well."
Peter is currently serving two life sentences for murder and cannibalism.
"Wee Willie Winkie rins through the town. Upstairs and downstairs in his night gown. Tapping at windows and crying through the lock. Are the children in their beds? It's past 8 o'clock."
Wee Willie is a perverted freak-a-zoid and currently doing 20 to life in a maximum security AdSeg unit. I mean, nobody noticed this guy? He was sending out more signals than the spacecraft Voyager. But, he'll be alright. Violent criminals love guys like him. French fried.
Well, I have to go now. The bowling team I have locked in my bathroom is trying to escape again.
As my mother used to say, "Total waste of skin".
Well, that's what she told my cup scout troop.
I don't get it.
