I cannot disagree with Oprah being disappointed about James Frey’s fabrications in “A Million Little Pieces.” But Frey got greedy, and somehow using the tried and true attention getter of making things up as true when they are not, got O’s attention to where she, nor her staff, came to work sleepy eyed from being reeled into the mind of a writer who was addicted to being something that he is not, and just happened to dupe the wrong person this time.

We could say the same for our so-called elected officials, couldn’t we now?

But, back to the newscast about Oprah getting embarrassed and taking Frey down with her. . . . From the other side of my monitor I saw and heard:

Publishing titan Nan Talese of Doubleday asked Oprah, “As an editor do you ask someone ‘are you really as bad as you are?’

Oprah said emphatically  “yes, yes yes!” (see video link http://us.video.netscape.com/video.index.adp?mode=2&pmmsid=1457812)

Then Oprah said to James Frey in a I’m Oprah and you’re the whipping boy matter of fact tonality: “I think you presented a false person.”

From the other side of my monitor I saw and heard the news commentator say

“Few publishers fact check non-fiction, they rely on the truthfulness of the author.” And this fact is true or else there would be no publishing industry worth talking about.

News Commentator also said, “Oprah sent a warning sign to publishers. ‘Can you promise people the truth and not deliver it?’”

Oprah needs to come down just as hard on the federal government who duped millions of Americans about the truth of this war on terror. Oprah is not the last word. Why is it that when Oprah endorses something it’s considered more important than someone like the Pope? What is she saying about Hollywood who puts on farces of truth everyday in the name of painting a believable image?

From the other side of my own mind I surmise as a non-fiction satire writer, short story fiction writer, speech writer/speaker and poet:

It just goes to show you one thing matters: If Oprah was a broke as the rest of those who put her in the position of becoming a billionaire, nothing she says would matter at all. Once again, we listen to the money. What I’d like to ask Oprah face to face is this: all past deeds aside, is she forgetting that we seem to forfeit forgiveness of all for the position of a powerful image? Do we neglect to see the reasons why to reach an understanding instead of using our influence of power to make others pay for their sins?

Back to my main point: Ain’t nobody perfect except the Creator of the Universe who gave us human specimens the ability to choose to WRITE right from wrong. Oh why can't he be like those adorable Bush twins who let it all hang out? (What do you mean you didn't know? CWell go 'head on an click to get the dish on our presidential princesses!
