According to Sala, many people are so influenced by the views and beliefs of others that they lose touch with their true identity and become disconnected from their true needs and self. By consciously directing one's thinking away from others and back to oneself, Sala believes that individuals can overcome personal barriers and achieve a clearer understanding of what they consider valuable in their life, instead of what someone else believes they should value. With this process in mind, the book combines narrative text with hundreds of questions in hopes of sparking introspection and provide a deeper understanding of who the reader really is. 
"Fear of the unknown or of thinking differently than those around them causes some people to remove themselves from their own actual thinking and purpose in life," Sala says. "The best thing someone can do is understand themselves, their thinking, their needs, their desires and their own choices and maintain focus on that part of themselves." 
Intended to challenge and inspire readers, the book discusses topics including childhood memories, sexual relationships, friendships and definitions of valuable gifts. Through a series of questions, Sala aims to motivate readers to reconsider their choices and rediscover who they are and what they really want in life.
