Ever heard of Murphy’s Laws/ these are observations that are backed by a weight of life’s experiences. One of them is ‘you cannot just do one thing; everything has its consequences.’
It is very true . Choices carry consequences. Every choice we make in life have their
God gave man the ability to choose because e is a God of love. But we are prone to making wrong choices. Why? Because of the Adamic nature in us. You never teach children how to do wrong It is just inbred- I remember the story of a little child who was left at home with a bird in a cage. He let the bird out and when asked said the bird opened the cage and said bye, and flew away. Now animal lovers may like the action of the child . But the truth is that the child told a lie even without being thought how to cover its tracks. In another incident biscuit were left in a jar and a little boy helped himself with all the biscuits. ~When his parents asked him who did, he blamed it on his elder brother.
Even adults make choices; choices about work, relationships friendships, God,, etc If we decide for instance to live a life of pleasure, guess what ? Our academic work will suffer, our results will be bad, our placement on the course we want to study in future will be scuppered are unlikely to get the job we want and our children will be affected One thing leads to another.
The word of God also tells us about the consequences of sin.: the Wages of sin is death , but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.
If we choose sin, the consequence of that choice is death, eternal separation from God. But if we choose the gift of God -Jesus Christ, the consequence, the joy, the gain, the reward is eternal life.
In Deut30: the Word of God says:
‘Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses. I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life that you and your descendants might live! Choose to love the Lord your God and obey him and commit yourself to him, for He is your life. Then you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give t your ancestors…’ Deut.30:19-20
Jesus said come all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. You have a choice between coming to Jesus or going your own way. Will you make the right choice If you come you will have rest like he said. if you don’t come you have chosen turmoil in place of the rest He promises.
Come let us reason together. Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow. If you come and confess your sins you will be making the right choice ad the consequence will be forgiveness of sin. How good is that for a choice?
Joshua told his people: ‘Choose you whom you will serve as for me and my household we would serve the Lord. He knew the right choice: we would serve the Lord. What is you r choice today?
Jesus said ‘Behold I stand and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens, I will come in and dine with him and he with Me.’ Jesus s knocking on the door of your heart door even now. You have a choice to open the door for him or ignore him. What is your choice today? Chose right and reap the right consequences. God
Today, if you hear His voice do not harden your heart. Choose life and live.
