Something that looks bad from one angle may look good from another.

Most people claim not to be superstitious but we all have strange quirks and beliefs. It is true that our beliefs dictate our reality. I was once giving my staff a motivational pep talk and I held up a iron horse shoe. I held it facing down in a 'n' shape and asked them what it meant. All of them said 'bad luck'. I turned it around and asked them again and they said, 'good luck'. It has long been a superstition where I come from that if you hang a horse shoe upside down, you will bring bad luck upon your home but if you turn it around so that it faces up, it will bring you good luck. The difference? I don't really know but it struck me that anything can be turned around. Something that might appear to be a negative can be turned around and viewed as a positive. If you put your heart and soul into something only to see it fail, you may think that you're a failure but what have you gleaned from the experience? Mistakes are only inverted lessons. See the lesson and the experience becomes a valuable one. There really is no negative if you switch your thinking.

Personality traits can be viewed in the same way. Negative traits can be turned around and turned into positive ones. Example: Stubborness turned around becomes tenacity. Anger properly directed can become determination. A nit picker may be a great detail person. See what I mean?

Sometimes life throws out challenges that you may think are unfair. After prednisone therapy, I developed cataracts in both eyes and my eyesight deteriorated to the point where I became legally blind. As a creative person who made a living in the decorating industry and an artist, this seemed to me to be a fate worse than death. I became extremely withdrawn and lost a lot of confidence. I hadn't realised just how much I relied on my eyesight and I felt so helpless. I eventually had operations to replace the lenses and my eyesight was restored. After going through this experience, I realised that I'd learnt a few things while blind. My hearing had become more sensitive and I had learnt to listen carefully. I also learnt to think on a completely different level and became more introspective which led to greater self-awareness. I honed my sense of touch and enjoyed physical contact as I had never done before. I lost something (thankfully in my case temporarily) but I also gained something (thankfully that is permanent). I never appreciated my eyesight as much as I do now.

There are many other examples throughout my life and the one thing that I now try to do is to see the flip side. Sometimes this is hard. When I'm in a situation that brings me pain, it's hard to see what good can come out of it and so often wisdom only comes in hindsight. But I keep mentally 'turning it around' and this really helps. I hope it helps those who take the time to read this.

And then there are those that don't care. Everything in this world can be positive but the ones who choose to not care think they are only ignorant, instead of stupid. Ignorance can be cured by education, but a stupid person cannot be cured because their viewponts will never be changed. It is the way of the world today. Stupidity reigns supreme in the world today from people starting and fighting wars for no real reason to those who discriminate against others that are different. They don't know why they do it, but they just know they are right. Bah humbug!

Anyway your article is right on Chanti, and if people actually take the time to think about what they read here, they can turn their lives around. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

I believe that professor Morris Massey fostered a theory that is easily subscribed to --"who you are, is where you were when" -- almost everyone is a made person, psychologically by the age of eight -- the only thing that can change our personality beyond that age, are significant emotional events -- additionally I believe that it is our perceptions that are critical as to how we view any situation -- many times we too easily trap ourselves with self-fulfilling prophecies -- an interesting write Chant -- peace and love -- Jon Michael

YOUR Article was very handy to me Chanti, when things happen (nomatter how severe) we must turn them around. I often thought (would the man I love so very much, and how he shows me his love to me) would that change if "HE" decided to STAY with me, if I lost my ability to do for myself, and ONE day that discussion came up. He said, NO! I would never leave you for any reason, and then of course an ability can put a strain (no matter the strength and length of love that one feels within) I thought of being in a wheel chair (others do it and go to NICE places, would I put my love through that. He assured me he would take me through a Mall and I don't go to Malls, but he wouldn't mind. and I cried. I couldn't stop crying, when you loose something within you, (there is no more relying on yourself, or YOU learn a new way of being able to) but some things you have to accept it and learn to rely. It would be tough for me. I enjoyed the time it took for you to write this article out my friend, and I'm so happy to hear YOU have your eyesight back, that had to be a scary (NEW) Adventure to go through (sometimes alone I'm sure) and you did it. YOU think maybe (because you tried to do all you can) that the good came back into your life, and the easier moments you didn't lose forever. I'm glad POSITIVE came from it all! You're a GREAT person with a GREAT Heart and I appreciate our long-standing friendship (even if spiritually) the strength is felt! What I see happening to others around me when "A Negative or self defeating) thing comes into their life. There life changes (sometimes in a while different NEW direction) and you start to wonder, GOD HAS a PLAN, and we just don't ever know it till it happens. Also the other areas are strengthened even more and more stronger appreciated, in a different level! I'm happy that all is turning out for you, a temporary set back...

Stay Positive!
Stay SAFE!
Pss... YOU were speaking of good luck or superstitions, I have one, sneakers/shoes off the table - Some quickly put them down without thinking.. and when it happens, others around screetch... I am one..

I wasn't going to come on A/D. today but I am glad I did and popped you on! :) YOU got me appreciating the strength of love I have in my life! and from those around me! For I know (IF) I needed them, I wouldn't be alone and I wonder "IF" I had/or was a lone, JUST how bad would it be... hmmmm

BE HAPPY!
