Mine Til Midnight and Lessons of Desire

by two of my favorite authors disappointed for different reasons.

In Lessons of Desire, Phaedra Blair discovers passion and love in a relationship that she never expected.  I think this one was off-putting to me because I'm not a feminist.  At least not an extreme one.  Couldn't relate to the heroine.  Her innate suspicion of men was warranted in her situation, but it isn't so with me. However, Madeline Hunter is always entertaining and inventive, so it wasn't a waste of time.  I might reread it later and get a bigger thrill, who knows.  My favorites of hers don't reflect the favs of Amazon's readers, so who knows?

Mine 'Til Midnight put me off, because it involved gypsies and a ghost, and all was not resolved by the end to my satisfaction.  I was not convinced that the protagonist really would have warranted Cam's desire.  I don't like supernatural stories unless that really are embedded in the plot, and this didn't seem to mesh.  Once again, that's just my taste, others may have loved it. Lisa Kleypas writes fun historicals, and I enjoyed the Wallflower series.
