I've written a few witty light verses as you will see under the Poetry section, and I've also submitted some of them to various contests online. The rhyme entitled An Uplifting subject close to my heart won third place in the Poem of the Week competition on Cultured Vultures. There are some fine poems to be found on this site, so I thought I'd share the link.
On this site you will see my work and the work of others, and they
encourage you to submit your own poems to be read by millions, and
tweeted all over the nation. There are no prizes like on other sites but
there is recognition, and the contest is free to enter. So all you budding
poets, get your quills poised and share your imaginative skills.
I wish you and those who aspire to Cultured Vultures much readership. Though social media is an invaluable tool, I find myself shying away from venues that make demands on my time which I prefer to use for writing. May your imagination continue to soar.
Thank you for the heads up. I write poetry for fun and for improving my vocabulary, so I don't pursue poetry like some others. I post one poem a week on my website and then, post it here. While I realize that chasing websites may improve my visibility in the writers' community, I'd rather spend time writing than trying to meet the requirements of all these websites. Facebook and Twitter may be great marketing tools, but they are also time wasters and filled with a lot of trivia.
