Change begins with making different choices and we each control our own choices.

Where are you today? Do you have that dream job? Are you living in that house or condo or even in the neighborhood of your choice? Do you own a car? Education, how about your education; did you earn the degree or certification that you have always wanted for yourself? And about those friendships, are you happy with your friends; do you know them, do they know the real you?

Every once in a while we need to take a good look at where we are to see if we are happy with the choices we have made. If we are honest with ourselves, many of us will find that we have not made the best choices in some areas of our lives. Then there are those who are too proud to admit their mistakes and short comings, finding it easier to blame someone else for his/her current situation. Blame is an old, old game. It should have played out but because human nature has a way of "hiding" from the truth, old blame still gets a good deal of credit. But if you have come to a place where you are ready and willing to accept responsibility for where you are in life, you can do something about it.

Today, as never before, we live in an age of technological advances that boggles the mind. The internet is an amazing tool, an information highway like no other. There are so many agencies and support groups and associations and activity clubs for just about any interest that one can have. Now while nothing is ever absolutely free, somebody pays the cost, you can gain knowledge about any area that you are passionate about for practically nothing more than your investment of time. Too many people who find that they haven't made good choices, have just settled and found a way to live with the "mess" they have made. But I challenge you, to clean up your mess. It's not as hard as you think. Here are a few simple steps that you can take to help you bring about changes by making some different choices:

1. Find a quiet place in order to take advantage of some quiet time.

2. Bring with you a pencil and a pad

3. Jot down the things that you are keenly aware of that you have always wanted to do.

4. Think about the last major choice you made, what prompted you to make that choice?

5. If you found out later that you made a wrong choice, why didn't you move to correct it? This is important, sometime we live with our choices because of how we believe it will affect others around us. We don't want to cause anyone else pain or misery. So we make the choice to live with what decisions we have made.

6. If you could go back, knowing what you know now, what choice would you make?

7. What's stopping you from making that choice now?

8. Do you from the inside of your very core, want change in your life?

9. Do you understand that change can only happen when you make up your mind to put some plan into actions?

10. Are you willing to risk a temporary state of not knowing how it will turn out, in order to go to a different place?

Once you have taken the time to write these answers, re-read them, reflect on them. Allow your imagination to take you forward to what you want to be your desired result. Decide today how you want to be thought of when someone hears your name. You can make this happen. Remember, this, your choices define you. If you don't like what you see in yourself or what you are doing with your life, you can do something about it. No one, except God, knows more about you than you. It you want oranges, stop planting apples! Make the choice today that will bring about a different tomorrow. It's in you, you can do it.
