This is the 5th in a series about on-line writing communities. I have already covered the list of on-line writing communities and what to stay away from an on-line writing community. Let us cover what you are looking for within an on-line writing community.

First of all, what genre are you writing about? Is it Science Fiction, horror, fantasy, historical fiction, historical romance, fan-fiction, history, adventure what?

You want to make sure that if you want to you can add pictures to your stories for free and not at a price. A picture can add a thousand words to your story. It can bring your story alive. Just make sure your picture is in public domain. Anything before 1923 is already in Public Domain in the United States.

If you live in another country you need to do the research.

Are you looking for word spell, foreign characters, in the online writing community? Some have it and some don't.

Are you looking to add media to your stories - again some sites have it and some don't.

There are some pretty good sites out there such as http://booksie.com and http://jabbertale.com that allows you to add pictures to your stories. These sites are free.

Some of these sites expect you to buy a membership if you want to add pictures to your stories.

Are you looking to start a group? Well http://storywrite.com, http://jabbertale.com and http://writerscafe.org allows you to start groups.

Are you looking to start a writing contest? http://storywrite.com and http://writerscafe.org allows you to do it. However, http://writerscafe.org does not require points.

Some of the on-line writing communities have blogs or journals such as http://storywrite.com and http://writerscafe.org has it too.

Personally, I like http://booksie.com because you can add separate chapters as you go along.

Are you looking just for a poetry site- http://hellopoetry.com is the site for you.

I have already covered those on-line writing sites for Science Fiction, Horror, and Fantasy.

Now if you are looking for a blog- make sure you don't have to pay for it because some of them after a trial period you do have to pay for it.
