The first movie I remember that stirred my conscious about Earth women falling in love with an alien was the 1984, John Carpenter’s movie called Starman. Jeff Bridges played the alien who assumed the life of Karen Allen’s (Jenny Hayden) dead husband. Yeah, I know I’m telling my age by talking about this movie—so be it. I’m a boomer and I’m proud of it.

Watching this movie over and over stirred my analytical creative curiosity. How awesome was it to have an alien lift the DNA from the hair follicles of Jenny’s dead husband, and then in fact becomes the un-dead—in a stiff human-in-training way. Still, pretty cool to say the least!

If you haven’t read Blood Melt, my SCI-FI fantasy, you might want to get an ebook or paperback copy. Although Avani is a teen going through the overwhelming situation of realizing that Earth is not alone in the universe, she and Jenny Hayden have a lot in common. How many females do you know that KNOW that their involved romantically with a man from another planet? I didn’t say feel like they are, I said know that they are! J

My husband and I were watching the Science channel where a hypothetical alien invasion of the weird kind had taken place. These things that looked like spiky, hairy, bowling balls had mysteriously appeared all over the planet. Inside each of them were smaller ones, and then smaller ones, and even smaller ones. The ugly brown-grayish balls were not nearly as cute as Jeff Bridges was in Starman, and certainly they cannot compete with the gorgeous honey-brown eyed alien, Seth, who pursues Avani  in Blood Melt, but cute was not the motivate  behind this scientific theory.
