Whether you realize it or not, your entire existence revolves around what you want to experience. Even when you choose to help or even harm others, you have a deep-seated desire to bring benefit to yourself.
When you know what you want, and you want it badly enough, you'll find a way to get it. ~Jim Rohn, American entrepreneur and motivational speaker
Here's a novel idea: your entire existence revolves around what you want. Although this is an interesting concept, it's much more than that. It's an observable, verifiable fact...if you know how to see at it. Look at it this way: every feeling, thought, word, action, and experience you create is driven by your desire to produce something for yourself and it's an aspect of Truth's mechanics that no human being can escape. Even when you think you're doing something for someone else you're actually doing it for yourself whether you realize it or not. For instance, if you offer to help another person in some way, don't you get some sense of satisfaction? Don't you get at least a little bit of a warm-fuzzy feeling that you did something for someone else that offered them support, kindness, compassion, etc.? What about when you go shopping, go see a new movie, read a book, or order a steak instead of fish at your favorite restaurant? On the other hand, what if you say or do something to hurt another person who has caused you pain? Don't you also get a feeling of satisfaction that you "returned the favor"? Wouldn't you have done this so you can feel better? These are various examples that illustrate how your choices are motivated by your desire to achieve something you believe is beneficial to yourself. Of course, what is actually beneficial and non-beneficial to human beings is a widely debated topic based on their personal understanding of Truth itself. The Nexus Complex presents that Ignorance of Truth has been the bane of humanity throughout history...but that is another much larger subject than what this blog post is addressing. The point of this post is to help you comprehend that everything you choose is tied to your desire to experience something you believe will benefit you...even though you may be completely oblivious to this most basic of motivations. Nevertheless, it's something that cannot be denied when assessed appropriately. So, why does The Nexus Complex say this is taking place in every person's life? The answer is simple: it's innately hard-wired into who we are as sapient beings. Let's look at this for just a moment.
The Nexus Complex states that at the core every human being is a desire to exist. This desire also relates to seeking benefit to the self that can be in various forms such as the need for survival including consuming food and water or seeking shelter and clothing...to emotional needs such as wanting to experience pleasure, companionship, or happiness. This internal desire for benefit even extends to our seeking of spiritual comfort and enlightenment. In essence, there is a little voice inside each of us that is constantly posing the same central question regarding everything we encounter in our existence: "What's good or bad for me"? Now, even though this voice cannot be dismissed, if we inappropriately answer it, we can easily create choices in response to it that cause us harm rather than benefit. This is a common mistake made by virtually every human being who has ever existed. It's what causes many harmful outcomes such as selfishness, deceit, greed, corruption, racism, murder, rape, and war...just to name several. The key is understanding what is actually beneficial versus non-beneficial and this can only be achieved by possessing a comprehensive knowledge of Truth. For example, if a person thinks that lying to others is beneficial to them, this will satisfy their internal question of self-benefit. However, Truth illustrates that lying is a form of Fear and that Fear is always harmful in some form and at some time. So, if this person continues to lie based on their belief that it is beneficial, eventually, it will backfire on them and cause them harm and suffering. This might be damaged relationships or loss of employment. Lying erodes trust and this is certainly not conducing to a person's self-interest. Yet, if they did not understand that addressing their internal question of "what's best for me" resulted in an answer that lying is beneficial, they would continue to lie whenever it suited their purpose and create non-beneficial outcomes in their life. In other words, their ignorance of Truth would not allow them to see that what they thought was good for them was in reality...harmful. This is extremely common with humankind. Regardless, the point here is that we are driven by what we want...beneficial or otherwise. This is an innate characteristic in us and cannot be circumvented. Again, the key is to understand what is actually beneficial and non-beneficial according to Truth...rather than what we think or believe them to be. This central concept is why The Nexus Complex advises that the desire to know Truth is critical for experiencing happiness. The following brief excerpt from The Nexus Complex: A Personal Guide to Truth might help to illustrate the importance of the desire to know Truth in order to achieve what you want.
"Of all the data contained in The Nexus Complex, this chapter may be the most important one. As with any endeavor, you must first determine what you wish to accomplish. Then, you must acquire the appropriate Knowledge of to how to accomplish it. However, there is a third component, which will ultimately govern if you are successful or not...desire. This includes not only the desire to succeed but also, the motivation to do whatever it takes to reach the goal. Anyone can want something. The main question is, "How much do they really want it?" Although an initial motivation to reach an aspired goal is an integral component of the equation for success, The Nexus Complex stresses it is of equal importance to have a desire to acquire the appropriate level of Knowledge to reach your goal. If a sapient species can be defined as "socially advanced," it must have had a focused desire to transition from a state of primitive sapience toward advanced sapience. Likewise, if you want to reliably accelerate your social evolution, sapience, and understanding of Truth, you must have a passion to reach these goals and learn how to achieve them. Also, it is essential you comprehend why achieving these states of being would ultimately be in your best interest. This desire to reconfigure the self is defined by The Nexus Complex as follows:
Possessing a passionate desire to accumulate Data and Knowledge for discerning an accurate comprehension of Truth and increase the ability to achieve advanced levels of sapience.
The Nexus Complex's main goal is to provide data that can allow you to accelerate your social evolution by redefining, reconfiguring, and verifying your conceptions of Truth. If you are to be successful, The Desire To Know must exist in you. You cannot "sort of" want to know Truth. It's not enough to want to know...you must cultivate a need to know. In The Empire Strikes Back, Master Yoda advises young Luke Skywalker "Do or do not. There is no try." No restrictions apply though many people conjure all sorts of reasons why they cannot or have not achieved many of their goals. The only true limitation is yourself. The sooner you accept this aspect of Truth, the sooner you will be able to benefit from it. For, as stated by American entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker Jim Rohn, "Without a sense of urgency, desire loses its value." No one or no "thing" can create the choice for you to want anything." From Section Two: Chapter Two (The Desire To Know: Motivation to Evolve)
Try to see that your entire existence is sourced from what you want to experience. This means every choice you create regarding anything and everything is related to your desire to achieve something that you think will bring you benefit. This can be a conscious or un-conscious response but it's always present. Although your motivation might be to help or harm others, in the final analysis, you will be the one who experiences what you project within yourself or to the world. Truth says, "You can choose whatever you desire but you cannot escape the consequences of your choices". Obviously, "what you desire" is the topic of this post yet most people not only misinterpret what they want but also, they often are unaware that it causes them harm. Since you can't avoid your internal voice seeking benefit, wouldn't it be in your best interest to know what is beneficial and what is not as dictated by Truth? Only then will you be able to create choices and experiences that truly produce self-benefit. The Nexus Complex presents Truth advises there is only one motivator that will unfailingly provide this outcome no matter what you encounter...Unconditional Love. So, if you because you innately seek self-benefit and ultimately, happiness...it would do you well to direct the course of what you want towards creating choices based in Love rather than Fear. Sometimes, that's not an easy thing to do but if you come to a fuller understanding of Truth, you will find that there is no other way to achieve what you want to experience...happiness, peace, contentment, and tranquility.
Thank you for sharing your time with me again and I hope this article has aided you in seeing that what you want motivates every choice you create. Your thoughts are welcomed so please feel free to comment.
