This is the 50th  Anniversary year of the Tet Offensive in Vietnam.

This military campaign was the most crucial campaign in the war in Vietnam. Hue is the ancient capital city of Vietnam. Hue is a jewel among Asian cities.  The Communists launched a sprite attack on Hue on a Vietnamese Lunar New Year holiday. The North Vietnamese faced devastating losses in this battle. The victory for both sides was unclear. The communist liberators were brutal in their street by street attacks. The top down commanders and marines were forced to fight a street battle in streets they lacked familiarity.  The attack went into Hue in the fog, the Treasury, the citadel, the provincial capital and the flag. No air attack was called in for this month long Hue carnage. Many of the attacks were suicide attacks. The thin green line in Hue is the narrative of commanders in tight fighting zones of urban combat facing conflicting reports against superior forces. The City siege at Hue determined the Vietnam war outcome.
