Stearns County, Mn: I grew up in Stearns County MN after WWII. Our family lived in a Yellow House Down from the Court House where my father James ODougherty practiced law. He was hired to work with a lawyer in Sauk Rapids who was divorced and needed a decent Irish Catholic Attorney to shield him from scandals and false accusations in Sauk Rapids.
At the time I was growing up after WWII Stearns County had the worst or one of the worst county ratings in the State of Minnesota. A major reason for this is the large number of Germans who live in this town. Also, there are a large number of retired farmers in this community.
Gene McCarthy represented this community well in my opinion. He was an excellent voice in many areas of law and politics.
Michelle Bachman also represented this community well. She represented Stearns County and graduated from Bob Jones Christian. She led the Congress in the Franking privilege.

Dr. Patrick ODougherty has published 28 serious works in scholarship and has met the challenge of both of these representatives. Gene McCarthy has 28 books after his name.
