Spirituality can be simple instead of complex.

Our universe is a spiritual universe. The Creator or the Great Spirit is a spiritual entity. We are all spiritual beings existing temporarily in physical bodies. Spirituality is very simple and uncomplicated. The major goal in spirituality is to live a sacred life to the best of our ability at all times. Even though we will have spiritual leaders, we are encouraged to find our own personal spiritual path and to establish an intimate one on one relationship with the Creator.

People today worldwide are beginning to understand the difference between spirituality and religion. Spirituality is a personal relationship with a god of our own personal understanding. Religion is a relationship with a man created institution as a means of trying to understand god as defined by the leadership of their respective religion.

A person can be spiritual and not be religious and a person can also be religious and not spiritual. Then there are those that can be a religious spiritual person. Probably the major societal difference between spirituality and religion is that spirituality will unite people while religion will cause division amongst mankind.

Persons who choose spirituality do not have to belong to a single religion but are able to fellowship with all people. They have the freedom to believe as they choose so as to create their own spiritual belief system. Spirituality allows us to have a direct relationship with the spirit of the Creator without any third party interference.

There is a lot of personal freedom in spirituality while religion imprisons a person with doctrine, rules, regulations, and spiritual and emotional bondage. Many people do not understand the conceptual differences between spirituality and religion. The religious institutions have confused both concepts and made people believe that they are the same thing.

A person does not have to go to a religious building to have an intimate relationship with their personal god. It is still good to find an open minded spiritual community where there is unconditional love and communal fellowship. Many spiritual communities are spiritual centers instead of religious churches.
