A brief description of the low-level gangster, Christopher Saint, boss of the 'Radley Road Razors' mob, based in West Blackchapel.
Christopher Saint is a young geezer who, through fate, finds himself leading a rag-tag bunch of villains known as the 'Radley Road Razors', deep in the bowels of the decaying city of Blackchapel. Underneath Christopher's tough exterior lies a personality that is laced with envy and a general lack of confidence. Despite these traits, he steps up to the mark and makes for a reasonable leader of the Razors, far more easy-going than the previous boss, a psychotic fruitcake called Charlie Gibbs.
Christopher is an orphan who was taken in, at an early age, by the Saint family, which also includes a big-league villain and murderer, Oliver Scanlon. Christopher's patience is tested to the limit by a new arrival in the family, Ted 'Twitchy' Taylor, who Oliver appears to dote over, and the young gangster finds himself struggling to control his jealous emotions, which eventually boil over and lead to tragedy.
Christopher Saint finds himself pitted against a number of unusual - and deadly - opponents, ranging from a mysterious assassin called 'Lonely', to a sadistic torturer who goes by the name of 'Mister Grimmer'. Chris is also forced to stare death in the face on a number of occasions, not least when he finds himself behind bars, and with judicial execution on the cards.
Christoper appears in the novel, 'The Trials of Christopher Saint', and will return again shortly in its sequel, 'Christopher Saint and the East-End Enigma'. Both books are set in the same universe as 'Milly Flopper, Psycho Copper', and 'Murderer'.
