"Artists are the Tools of the Gods"!

A Hindu Monk said;

"The middle road in life is the key to happiness."

He explained when we are happy to not forget sadness is on its way and when we are sad to remember joy is on its way.

Sage advice but for an extremely impassioned artist who writes Opera Librettos whose stories and music take audiences through heavens and hells, staying in the 'in-between perfect zen state' would not allow art to be born.

A person once said to me; "Oh you are one of those suffering artists".

"No", I answered. "I am a soul allowing all passions; good, bad and in-between to come through me. The emotions of all people are mirrored back to them through my art."

Great Art and Music are not often created with balanced emotions.

Ask Beethoven, Frida Kahlo, Michangelo and all the rest.

If great suffering and great joy were not allowed, would there be art?

A famous Ice Skator and painter; Toller Cranston wrote the below saying;

"Artists are the Tools of the Gods. They are driven mercilessly to goals they are powerless to alter. They are the instruments of destiny. Their lives are not their own"
