"The Coroners Office Called Me as I Sipped my Coffee in Starbucks"
by Judy Joy Jones
Sipping my coffee in Starbucks my cell phone rang and when I answered a strange voice said they were from the Coroners Office and they were calling to notify me they had found the body of my beloved baby brother.
I screamed "Nooooooo!" and threw my coffee cup across the room. Sobbing I kept screaming "Nooooooo!" and
a waitress came over and started mopping up my spilled coffee while she continued to chat and giggle with the cashier behind the counter.
Not one person in the coffee shop asked me why I was loudly sobbing. They seemed afraid to respond to a person in front of them in desparate need of help.
My heartbreaking news took me way beyond caring about where I was or who was around me.
I wanted to fall on the floor and rock back an forth to try to soothe my aching soul from the sorrow gripping every cell in me from my beloved brothers death.
How dare a cornorer call me and say my brother was dead.
How dare the cold hearted people around me not care I was in pain that was so severe it has no name. And how dare God allow this.
My soul bled and as my makeup rolled down my face, I finally calmed myself enough to get to the house I was renting a room in.
I called my older brother who said he really hadn't been involved with him for years. His way to deal with pain was to immediately distance himself from it.
Reminding him having a family is a huge gift, he finally said he would help with all the arrangements needed. I gave him the Coroners phone number and hung up in a state of shock.
I promised myself I would spend every second I had using my Artisic Gifts to open hearts to feeling others pain and to reaching out to a sobbing person and holding them. And mostly I promised myself to remembering how short and very very fragile our lives are.
Live life a 1000% percent and when you take your last breath remember that the love you shared will be the blazing flame that will inspire Youth, our future leaders to Reach for their Highest Stars.
Love is the Most Powerful Force on Earth!
And I had a brother named Mike I loved with my whole heart and soul.
I commend you for the wonderful attitude you have adopted in response to this tragedy.
