"The Messiah!"

George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" is one of the most well-known classical pieces of music ever written. When he composed it, his eyesight was failing and he was facing being imprisoned because of outstanding bills.

He composed the piece
in 1741 in just twenty-three days and it
is still going strong after 275 years!
The Hallelujah chorus from the "Messiah" is known and sung
all over the world.

Handel never married and was known for his intense dedication to his musical career. He spent most of his
time composing and performing.

Handels Messiah is structured in three parts
and features 53 movements.
The text was written by Charles Jennens and compiled from the King James Bible. It tells the story of the Messiah, from the prophecy to the redemption.

The Messiah was first performed in Dublin, Ireland and is especially popular during the Christmas and Easter season.
