Another accomplishment for a wonderful, very down to earth, person. As I think about it, Dolly comes up in the news more often than almost any other musical artist. The latest was her losing her husband recently.

My grandmother gave me her already old, 17 inch black and white television set as I embarked for my doctorate in West Virginia, to accompany me in my studies. One of the few stations I could bring in was Wheeling, West Virginia.

I believe it was daily, about 4 PM, when I would turn on the Porter Wagoner show to listen to Dolly sing her beautiful country songs, sometimes solo and sometimes as a duet with Porter. It was 1971. She was a star even then.
