The church can no longer afford to be silent in the face of the LGBT agenda as rights are swiftly being stripped away.

Although we live in a day and time where freedom of speech is well accepted in our culture, there is one gray area where it is strictly forbidden. This small slice of the American pie is being dominated by 2% of the population. As Christians, we are commanded to love one another and all mankind. Jesus said this is how others will know that we are his disciples by the way we love each other and our brother. However, our disagreement with a culture that practices a lifestyle that goes against the grain of our belief system does not equal hate. As believers, we have a responsibility and a duty to uphold righteousness as outlined in our faith system.
Yet, Christians everywhere are persecuted for the slightest infraction against the LGBT community. How can we worship freely and express ourselves if every word we speak is viewed as condemnation and judgement? I totally agree that hate speech toward any person that is “framed in Christianity” should be forbidden. No one should attack a person with derogatory words just because they do not agree with their lifestyle or culture. We are to win others over with love – pure and simple. However, we must take a stand also for what we believe in. Mixing these two facets together is like mixing and oil and water. Apparently, it just doesn’t merge well together. No matter how much love we frame our words in, the outcome is viewed as bigotry or hate. What therefore must we do?
Well, the obvious solution – our silence – is not the right one. By not taking a stand or saying anything, our silence indicates our acceptance of our rapidly changing culture and that is not the message we are trying to send. We must pray and seek wisdom from God on how to proceed – but we must proceed by becoming more vocal and visible. There could be peaceful protests or even boycotts that could be enacted to gain the attention of our lawmakers. Something must be done soon…as Christians are fiercely losing this battle.
