Hello Everyone,

I wasn't going to write a blog today, but a notice on everyone's door at our apartment complex has inspired me to write one.

We found this on our door today [9/22/2023] at 10 AM. I've been told by customer service that this is an over-estimation of the time needed, but I'm still waiting to hear back from another department that should know more about this particular case.

For starters, this is a long time. My wife uses a CPAP machine to sleep at night, not to mention that it's been getting cold at night here. I'm currently wearing a sweater as I write this as it's not too cold, but we can't afford to run the heater all the time. Especially now.

We don't have the means to make arrangements in such a short amount of time. We just barely got someone to help us out by getting us some more grains for our rescued guinea pigs. Most likely, my wife won't be getting any sleep and I'll be staying up with her and we'll play cards in the candlelight while we eat… umm… sandwiches, I guess.

The nice gentleman I spoke with on the phone did say that it most likely is some kind of emergency power situation involving roadwork he was assuming. However, considering how this apartment complex is run, it's just as likely that they've been sitting on that notice, which for context is a photocopied Seattle City Light notice that you would normally receive on your door knob, and only now have filled it out and posted it on our doors. Oh, and they get the security guys to put them there, too. My wife has even overheard them complain about it not being a part of their job description.

Google says it should only get down to 54 degrees tonight, which honestly isn't too bad, although, it's been a pretty constant northerly wind lately which always makes it feel colder. The piggies are always about ten degrees warmer, but we might have to heat some rocks for Elliott, whom is our rescued turtle.

Anyplane, I'm curious to know if you've ever had as short of a notice for so long of a power outage. I almost feel like I should call the news or something.
