Yes, it's another piggie.
Hello Everyone,
So, things have happened since I last blogged. I apologize if this one seems a bit scattered. We are preparing for another bug treatment, and so we have to get all the piggies - including that new guy - into a U-haul. We're also preparing for our move as well.
First things first, though, Loki is our new addition. We think he's about four years old, but he still popcorns a little which is rare for that age. He's pretty quiet until he knows it's veggie time, and he doesn't wheek very much.
The previous owner had rescued him about two years ago, and he claimed that he was very skinny. They were giving him up since his cagemate had died and he was constantly biting the bars on his cage.
He had quite the adventure on the way here, though. My wife had him in her lap on the light rail train and needed to move him for a minute to get into her bag. Barely a moment later, the train came to a sudden stop and a lady ended up having to sit in my wife's lap!
Loki was in a soft carrier and would've been squished; very possibly to death. We thought about changing his name to, Lucky.
I certainly feel as though he brought us some luck. The next day, my wife went to get some papers notarized for her claim of her late mother's estate. It turns out, the lady she went to used to work for the VA, and is now helping her to get nearly $3,000 per month for her to go to college.
This is exactly what we've been needing to get ourselves out of this horrible place. We just had a Section 8 inspection, where the inspector, who is supposed to wait for the tenant to let them in, had the landlord let him in two hours before they said they would.
Then, the next day, we heard a big boom from outside. My wife was in the bathroom at the time, but I noticed that the fan stopped working. I immediately knew something was wrong. When we checked things out, the kitchen and living room power was out, but none of the breakers had tripped.
We were initially worried that the noise came from our place, but when we went out into the hallway, the emergency lights were on, and the first person we ran into told us that someone had crashed into a power pole along Aurora Avenue, and that power was down all around.
That still didn't explain how only a portion of our power went out. I have a theory that there's a separate breaker somewhere that goes off as a safety from inbound surges. Something to cut off the heaviest of the appliances right away. Even still, I've never experienced anything like that before.
Anyspace, I would also like to mention that I'm working on some writing. Probably not what you were hoping for, but I thought of an idea for writing an example playthrough of a game I'm designing. I published the introduction and I'm close to finishing part one of the series.
