The people who traffic in these drugs are vicious, self serving, cold blooded killers.
There is nothing remotely glamourous about dealing drugs. It is a life filled with fear. There is no trust, no loyalty, no security. Death often comes swiftly, without warning. In ugly ways. My brothers both dealt narcotics and both died like garbage. One in the back seat of a car, the other on the floor alone. The first from heroin, the youngest from cocaine.
Craig Devereaux Bohnne died in Concord with a houseful of people, yards away from him. He remained in the car for 3 days before anyone in the house he lived in, bothered to look for him. A Merchant Marine and musician, he started trafficking during his trips overseas. At 21 years old, a bright intelligent young man died of his own product.
Christopher Carlos Bohnne died from what is suspected to be acute cocaine poisoning. He died like a dog, on the bedroom floor of the home he shared with a lady from Hong Kong. She removed his watch, keys and phone from the bedroom and waited until he died. Great body count for one family.
I tried to stop his trafficking in cocaine, and turned him into law enforcement, to stop him from doing harm to others and himself. All the thousands of dollars he used to flash at me, didn’t help him then. A shipment came up short, someone had to pay, and he did, with his life.
That’s why the media portrayals of drug trafficking as being exotic, glamorous and sometimes funny, sets my teeth on edge. Narcotics detectives are either totally honest or completely corrupted, in many of todays’ movies. This is an unfair and unjust characterization of the thousands of men and women, who manage to keep their integrity and sanity, while trying to do a dangerous and difficult job.
It also hurts the thousands of families who have lost loved ones to narcotics, and who know the grim reality. The shock of getting a call or knock on the door, telling them their child, husband, or father will never come home again. This is a reality I live with every day. There is NO amount of money worth the hurting of so many human beings. The people who traffic in these drugs are vicious, self serving, cold blooded killers. The product they sell is death. Add to this the financing of terrorist organizations through the monies made in trafficking, and we have a huge problem.
Things won’t change anytime soon. We need as a nation, to arm ourselves with knowledge and work together to eradicate drugs from our society. Together, we can make a difference.
