Where were these people during the 80's?

The American Family Association sent yet another urgent plea to their 3,364,956 (minus two, since Peter Wimsey and I don’t really count) members today. At first glance, this letter baffled the hell (pun intended) out of me since they are pro (their) god and family. In a twist that I could barely wrap my brain around, they asked me to email the president of TV Land and complain about the use of the word god in his ad.


Starting Saturday, TV Land will run movies from the 1980’s. The AFA has a problem with the feature title, OHMIGOD, and the ad, in which the title is repeated five times in 30 seconds, which clearly represents disrespect for Christians and their god.

As usual, the AFA has taken the irrational sensibilities of their members into consideration by including a sensationalized notice (WARNING: If you visit their website, the ad plays automatically.) with the link to the offensive ad .

Going there might be the most offensive thirty seconds of my life, but not because of the repeated OHMIGOD. The exuberant, “So Disney” voice in the ad was so offensive I couldn’t listen long enough to count the OHMIGODs.

(Sadly, TV Land caved to these crazy people and changed the ad to Ohmygosh! I won't miss them too much.)
