Heartfelt condolences from New York in the wake of recent tragedies.

To all those adversely affected by the London tragedy,   New York is especially saddened by the senseless loss of life which was so vividly evident in these abhorrent attacks. It is with friendship and goodwill that we look to London; more so at this hour. The need to be resolute and steadfast is clear, yet that expression is best left to our politics. When regular people are targeted, it is wholly natural that the response by the majority of their peers be more emotional and considerably less stoic. It is not easy to craft within our minds a protection that will help us put distance between our gut reactions to such an event and our desire to present an unwavering firmness in the midst of such complicated times. If these words can deliver some small measure of the outpouring of our hearts to those who have suffered the most in these attacks, let them be conveyed with the speed of compassion and the depth of understanding: we are the counterpart and ally of Great Britain, and grieve for her losses as our own.
