There are incidents that defy explanations, try this one...

MY SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR
-----ITS SIGNIFICANCE

We are not talking about beauty secrets here. I am talking about the niece of my long departed Tita Piling.

My Chinese name is Leling, the nickname of Tita Piling's niece is Liling. We used to play together when we were small. Liling has been sickly ever since she was a child. When I see Liling, I feel I still have the link to my Yayee Tita Piling.

Every time I visited my Papa, my sister and my brothers during the Christmas season, I made it a point to drop by Liling's office to say hello and to pray together.

During the first quarter of the year 2000, my sister Inday told me that only 20 percent of Liling's vital organs are functioning. She told me that the cancerous cells was widespread. I prayed for Liling and my thoughts would turn to her often.

During the Week of Lent, when I went home to Roxas. I wanted to visit her in Pan-ay, however there just was not enough time to do this.

At 10:20 in the evening of July 16,2000 (the same day I bought the book Yayee-wherein Fr. Jesena's story of his Yayee made me remember Liling's Aunt, My Ta Piling), Inday sent me this text message :

"Liling got a vision of a lady with shoulder length hair who kept on praying for her. When her sister Rebecca told her you are praying for her, Liling knew the lady was you."

I sent this text message in reply :" God knew how much I wanted to visit Liling in person & to pray with her---my link to Tita Feling---I cried when I read your text."

On July 17,2000 at 8:14 in the evening ,Inday got in touch with this text message : "Visited Liling today---showed your text message--she had goose bumps--when she learned you are praying for her---she felt that you really prayed."

Please note that the last time I saw Liling was December 1999. My hair then was permed and much much shorter.

Right after Inday's July 16 text, I even went in
front of the mirror and double checked whether my hair was really shoulder length or not!!! Of course, it was!!! And THAT was the significance of my shoulder length hair.

These train of events were very reassuring for me, because I sometimes despair over the physical distance between me and my loved ones. My 90 year old Papa in Roxas; my son in Iloilo; my brother on board a foreign vessel most of the time ; my only sister Inday in Roxas ; my very sick classmate in Bacolod , my eldest brother in Manila; my beloved and very very sick Teacher... etc. etc. etc.

AND THEN INCIDENTS SUCH AS THIS MADE ME REALIZE

THAT FALLING BACK ON GODS GRACE....

WE ARE ACTUALLY JUST A PRAYER AWAY....!!!

.....................
I visited Liling during this Lenten Season of the Year 2001. She was up and about despite the serious ailment that she suffers .

I like the message of hope conveyed here. It also got me thinking of my cousin who is suffering from cancer, I'll pray for her every day now.
