Aging is more than a physical process.It is not just losing the mobility of youth, nor is it watching the body droop and sag in unexpected and unpleasant ways.Aging is also looking around at other people who pass on the street, in the mall, sitting in a doctor's office and then remembering what it was like to be that age; the young person, the teen, the child.The elderly are the only ones who have experienced all of the younger ages.The child cannot conceive of what it is like to be a teenager.The teen has no way of knowing what it is like to be a young adult. The young parent has not yet been a grandparent.Even the grandparent must wait to know what it is like to be a great-grandparent. We all must age before we can fully understand the sorrow and striving and the joy and fulfillment that each stage of life brings with its unique experience of living.

Maybe it's just me, but I hardly would ever envy "the youth" of today. What a horrible society and life they're heading into . . . look at our society and its values, its music, its literature (?), its politics. It's all going downhill fast. also, I would never envy the young anyway, because everything has its day, and that's just the way things are . . . the natural progression of things so to speak.
