Hope is an interesting word. It can mean something different for many people. I know there are those who think hope is wanting something, but not being sure that it will come about. A few days ago I received an email giving me the website for a Hope Revolution. The intent of this website and the revolution is to spread hope. Someone in New York City began leaving messages of hope all over the city and some enterprising individual has chosen to create a website and urge others to spread messages of hope. I like this idea.
I went to my trusty dictionary and found that the word hope is defined as to wish for something with expectations of its fulfillment. The archaic definition is to have confidence, trust. I support both of these definitions, however I do not agree with a phrase I have heard others use such as, hope for the best. That leaves me thinking that perhaps it could be better phrased because many people have the idea that the word hope means to want something, but it may not happen.
Let's join the Hope Revolution and give out or leave messages that are in alignment with the above definitions. By changing our attitudes, we can change our world. By giving up judgments, we can change our world. By accepting people as they are, we can change our world. By forgiving others and by forgiving ourself, we change our world.
