The Independent Publisher Book Awards were created in 1996 as a broad-based, unaffiliated awards program open to all members of the independent publishing industry. The awards are intended to bring increased recognition to the thousands of exemplary independent, university, and self-published titles produced each year, and reward those who exhibit the courage, innovation, and creativity to bring about change in the world of publishing.

It is a heady euphoria to have one's writing skills and research acknowledged. I read almost every book I could find on Mary Magdalene and researched not only the traditional scholars, but also scholars of the hidden history. I knew I wanted to write about Mary Magdalene and realized I could utilize my research by writing works of fiction in order to reach a broad spectrum of readers. My choice was a wise one and I am now a recognized authority on the life and times of Mary Magdalene.

Recently I learned of a group of women who are studying Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls as a tool to empower their womanhood. I have been asked what is my next step. In reply, I am a speaker, author and in August will publish my first non-fiction book titled Awakening the Genie Within based on my life experiences.
