Birthday themes for children, along with websites to review

We all know how easy or difficult it is to plan a party, depending on the child's preference. And of course, there are tons of themes depending on age and preference. Here are some that I have found along the way and some I have thought of myself.

Every girl (at least every 3-8 year old girl) I know of, loves Cinderella. When my oldest daughter, now a teenager (ACK!) was 5-years old, I threw her a Cinderella at the Ball party. She loved it. I will attempt to explain just what I did.

The first thing was getting all the supplies. In this case, inexpensive small bottles with a cork and glitter put inside, beach ball with aluminum foil covering it and decorated to look like a disco ball, cardstock cut into footprints and covered with foil, either a dress-up slipper, a small crystal ball with invitations to the ball in them. Also, dollar jewelry sets with rings, necklaces, bracelets, so they can dress up for the ball.

Make sure they wear their favorite dress to the party to begin with. You can make your own cake (too hard for me) or buy one with a Cinderella on it or decorated to fit the theme.

When each child arrives, have them take old rags and start dusting your house like Cinderella would do. Have them clean the place spic and span. (this part you will enjoy best) While they are doing that, have someone (spouse, friends) sneak out to the front door and place the invitations into the crystal ball, ring the doorbell and run. Someone opens the door and sees their invitation to the ball. Next, each girl dresses for the ball--you could really have fun with hairdos and make-up.

While that is going on, someone sets the footprints out that follows a path to where their shoes are. (Somewhere where the girls cannot see them) Now, put on some classical ballroom music and have the girls dance for about ten minutes.

After that, have them follow the footsteps to their shoes and there they will find the treasure. (party bags with penny candies) Cake and ice cream served for the finishing touches--after the girls have protected their dresses. Open up gifts and enjoy the delight on the girl's faces as they admire the fun gifts. It was a lot of fun and the time they were there, flew by.
