The Essence of Prayer

For the duration of American tragedies the media dilutes the airwaves with images of many cultures coming together in prayer. With eyes closed and heads bent the masses come together to ask God or a Higher Power for answers or healing. During 911 there was a collective trust seen almost every day from every area of the globe. People cared. They prayed. Images of all races and creed would stand side by side, hands held, as many wept asking God for personal miracles within or for a new peaceful world.

Through prosperous times or times of forgotten disasters, people stomp their feet to rid prayer out of schools and away from the government. Prayer is almost considered a foul word and is attributed to be politically incorrect. Television, radio, movies, scream out violence and negative speech until another upheaval of death or destruction the masses once again will cry out for mercy or crumble to their knees.

My question is this. How can prayer be politically incorrect? Prayer in fundamental nature are simply optimistic thoughts which are sent to a higher power or can just be a superior energy toward a individual into the universe. Prayer equals a silent thought of love, forgiveness to the greater intentions of a healthy cosmic vibration.

Populations rage, curse, use racist remarks, defame property, idolize celebrities and bully the less fortunate. The negative list toward more prosperous values of what we do as a society roll on while hope or positive beliefs are flung aside to the curb, forgotten until another overwhelming action awakens our sleeping souls.

Our demons that we allow in our minds that can hurt others, may be healed by prayer. Religion and rituals have nothing to do having Faith in a fellow human being. For many it helps to have a religious background, yet in reality positive energy is healthy even for the most agonistic being. Even though most believe only people of religion pray, to the contrary. Prayer is the essence of good thinking and well wishes to fellow man.

It is so easy to fall into a trap of negative thoughts. Ideas of pain or prey against another or how to manipulate or control a situation is a certain downfall. Our civilization bathes in the errors of ways. Prayer is a method to heal and let go of the anger and rage that one may let settle or run vividly in their mind. Optimistic assessments on fellow man or the world can lead us into a global connection of love, understanding and forgiveness. How can a better world of rational, caring thoughts be considered politically incorrect?
