Today that isn't so much the case. This year the country swore in it's first non-white president. There was so much hope when this man campaigned. He promised equal treatment for all colors; transparency in his cabinet and his actions; to create a CHANGE.  Well, he has done that. In the few months that he has been in office, he has spent more money than any other president in that short amount of time. All we have left is the change...and not much of that.  I am disappointed. There is no transparency into this presidency. If anything there are more layers than a five tiered devil's food wedding cake. We have Czars that control the income and outgo of funds and they are not responsible to anyone except this president. There is no oversight. They ARE the oversight. Instead of less government; there is more government; much more. He says one thing and does the opposite. These bills are so filled with fine print that it would take extra extra magnification to find it all.

The worst thing is that our rights are being trampled on so hard that they will never bounce back up. For the first time we are afraid to complain about our government and their actions. What? We pay these guys! They work for US! We have a right to question their actions and require answers. But this president does not believe this. Instead of allaying our fears by explaining his actions, he asks that we turn in people who disagree with him via email to Flag.whitehouse.gov. This is scary and it is also VERY scary. Hugo Chavez made it illegal to criticize him. Nancy Pelosi wishes she could make it illegal to criticize HER. Heaven help those of us who criticize this president. He is constantly on television telling those of us who don't switch to the travel channel or something, that conservatives are trying to ruin his presidency. We don't have a right to question HIM, he thinks.  And then there is the race card. The only person constantly talking about his color is HIM. The rest of us couldn't care less. We just want results and we want what he promised: CHANGE, transparency, less government, affordable health care that won't tell us when we have to die (did you know you will have to take end of life classes?) Why won't our Congressmen and Sentators read the blasted bill and root out all the things that don't need to be in there. There is a clause that says the government will have the right to debit your private bank account for whatever they think you owe them for your health care. Are they crazy?

I have always worked very very hard. I have paid my own bills all my life. I raised my children; worked two jobs and sometimes three to give them a life that would give them a leg up in the world;  paid to send them to college; clothed; fed them. I bought my house and paid for it myself. I live within my means. I am a God fearing woman. My spouse and I have been together over 30 years. I never had an abortion. I have never dated a person of another color not because I am a racist but because I am not interested. Even though I grew up in the sixties, I never took drugs for the same reason. What other people do is their own business and I don't try to tell them what to do. I believe in following the law. I am an average American woman who doesn't usually get involved in politics except to vote. 

The new president has a very different outlook. He says HE is the president.(in fact, he says that in every speech). We get it; alright? But so what? You were elected by the people and you are answerable to them. We didn't make you a King or a DICTATOR; stop acting like one. You aren't Hugo Chavez and we aren't in South America. You cannot nationalize the oil companies and use their profits for personal reasons.You are not IN CHARGE; you are supposed to be our leader. That means that you guide. You don't get to make policy. You influence it with the help of your congress and senate. Unfortunately, you seem to believe that you should influence what we SAY and think as well. You have asked us to turn in our neighbors if they send along emails you don't like and call disinformation. I remember a man who asked people to turn on one another; he is not remembered fondly by those who survived the holocaust.  Thugs show up by the bus loads when citizens try to ask their elected officials a question about your policies. Just last night they beat a very quiet black man selling flags so badly he had to be hospitalized. They say they did this because you asked them to stop the average citizens from questioning YOU. What makes you more special than any other seated president?  This wouldn't have been tolerated from anyone else; not even former President Clinton would have gone this far.

I do not write this article because I am a racist; I am not one. I write this article because I am afraid of what is happening to my country. I don't want to live in a Socialist country. I don't want my money divided with a person who doesn't want to work to earn a living. I don't think the government has any right to interfere in the business of a private company. I believe in the Constitution of the United States and I do not believe any one person has the right to rewrite it to their own specifications. I want the United States to remain the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free. I want our country to be the one that immigrants flee to because of bad treatment from their own country. I don't want to fear that if I express my own opinion I may just find myself incarcerated as a political dissident. So, Mr. President, I think you ought to be the person you advertised. Our country is undergoing buyer's remorse. It appears we bought a pig in a poke and we didn't even have a chance to put lipstick on it.  You want to be DA MAN? Then be the man you said you were when you were campaigning for the highest office of our country.
