An article talking about the creation of my first book

Well it all started in 1997 when I wrote my first poem that I thought was any good.  It was later published by the international library of poetry in one of their anthologies. 

I stopped writing for awhile after that infact it was 4 years before I wrote another poem that I could call worthy of being any good. 

I worked away writing my poetry and at first was just an enjoyable activity that I used for myself to express the feelings I had at the time. 

I had won the poet of merit award in 2003. 2004, and 2005 from the international library of poetry, which they said was the highest honour they could provide to one person. 

After winning in 2005, I decided it was almost time to seek out a publishing contract as I had gained alot of exposure and I believed my accomplishments when it came to poetry had to move on from the ILP.

I kept writing until I believed I had enough good poems for a book of my own.  I sought a publishing contract from a few publishers both Canadian and American, and ended up going with Publish America LLLP based on the fact that none of the others got back to me. 

In my travels from one website to another I had become extremely frustrated that no one had gotten back to me.  In May of 2006 I signed the contract for my book to be published by Publish America, and I've seen some success with it.  The book was published in July of 2006 and released to stores on July 19 2006.

Since then I have received an award for book of the month for September 2006 by Poetry in the park, which is a forum I post in.  I look forward to other awards I may or may not win but only time will tell.
