As quick bites go, one might think that it doesn't get more convenient or more portable than pizza. It is designed to be consumed by the easily handheld slice. Those too time-pressed to sit and enjoy their food can carry a slice with them and eat while they walk. Its preparation is adaptable, tending to vary in style between regions of the globe, or of a single country, or even a single neighborhood. Most of us live within a stone's throw of an establishment that will deliver it piping hot directly to our doorstep. It is relatively simple to assemble, and once arranged, doesn't take long to bake. And, perhaps most importantly, it is rendered customizable to individual preference by an ever-expanding universe of meat and vegetable toppings, cheeses, and sauces offering limitless permutations.
