Unions representing employees at the Swift plants were dealt a defeat. Congratulations to the federal judge for following, not interpreting the law.

     In the newspaper today (December 22, 2006), the article begins by saying "a federal judge in Amarillo, TX  this week denied a union's request for an injunction on behalf of the workers detained in the largescale immigration raids at Swift & Co., noting that 331 people had complained of identity theft by Swift employees in the case."
     According to this article, it seems unions are willing participants in protecting illegal immigrants, some of which who are not deserving of protection. How will we ever gain control and ultimately stop illegal immigration when even unions are breaking laws?

        *Thirteen workers all used false identities
        *Three hundred thirty one American citizens
           had their identities stolen.
        *Four of the workers named by the union had
          returned to Mexico.
        *Eighty of the detainees requested voluntary
          departure to Mexico.
        *Two of those detained were apprehended in
          Arizona trying to re-enter the U.S.

        As I make mention in Chapter Six (page 101). On the one hand you have an entire population of illegal immigrants that do not even give a second thought as to how they are burdening our society. They just continuously sneak and hide until they have an opportunity to enter this nation to the point where they are wearing all of us thin.
      The problems do not arise because as a country we allow people from all over the world to come here, acclimate themselves and their families to life in the United States, it comes from sneaking in. I will even go as far as to say that immigration in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
     After all, if my family as a whole did not hold their breadth and make that leap of faith I truly doubt if I would even have been born in this wonderful country.
     We as a country are more than capable of absorbing in new people from all walks of life, but on a timely fashion as we have done in the past.
     Some of the problems arise not from immigration, but from illegal immigration. Please stop fooling yourself and referring to them as migrant workers too. You have thousands of them crossing over our boarders, into our country and then expecting to receive all the necessary services that we can provide.
     They are not a very patient group of people either. They have come to believe that they are all entitled to and expect to receive all that we have to give.
     Why? Is it just because they are here? Now there is an attitude, right? Can you even imagine what would happen to you if the shoe was on the other foot?
