What do they all have in common other than they are all in the entertainment industry, successful and millionaires who run in the same circle? The book A Place Called the Bla-Bla Café answers that question.

When I was approached to review this book, something I don't often have time to do anymore, the title fascinated me. A Place Called the Bla-Bla Café sounded like a mystery thriller that had the essence of old time Hollywood intrigue.

Once I was given a brief outline of what was inside the book, I was captivated and I knew I had to review this book. Being in the music industry myself, I was ashamed to say I had never heard of The Bla-Bla Café so I set to learn about it by reading this book.

I can say this with certainty that once you pick up this book, you won't want to set it down, as I couldn't. Outlining not just the names and history of superstars and legendary performers in all genres of the industry that performed there, it also outlines the history of the Café in a unique manner that draws you into the story and back in time.

Sandy Ross worked at the Bla-Bla Café so she had a backstage view of the goings on, but more than that, she was also a musician who formed a unique bond with the other entertainers who performed there.

The story is set in the 70's, chronicling a behind the scenes look into the Bla-Bla Café. The book begins with a recounting of how Sandy Ross became involved with the inner workings of the Bla-Bla Café all the way to sad closing of this diverse setting on June 21, 1982. The closing seemed to signal an end of an era that helped cultivate and refine many of our greatest entertainers today and taught the entertainment industry how to put on a showcase that worked.

In addition to Sandy's account of the comings and goings of this thrilling setting, she has enlisted help from a few of the entertainers who participated in this magical era of the Bla-Bla Café.

If you've ever wondered what happened to your favorite performers, you might find a link that can direct you to them at the end of this book. There's a huge list of the various performers and their contributions to the entertainment industry as well as URL's to some of the entertainers to help the reader find out what's going on in their lives now.

What a sad moment it was for me when I read that the Bla-Bla Café was no longer in existence. I would have loved so much to have been part of that wonderful time where talent ruled and bonds were formed across the genres of the industry.

With all the charm and glamour of an 'Old Time Hollywood' era that evaporated with stars like Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland in the 40's, this book will captivate you and bring you back in time, straight to the Bla-Bla Café.
