(I have TRIED -- tried NOT to donate, tried NOT to think about this sweet dog without helping, tried NOT to ask for help -- but I simply can't do it! I know that I'll likely take a personal hit, for trying to raise this money, but I'm willing to do it. It seems people are quick to help puppies -- which is WONDERFUL! -- but older dogs? Not so much... Why don't I give more? Well, I have. I've given more. And more. And more. But I have to live on a TINY amount of disability, and I'm BEYOND stretched. I've now spent ALL of my birthday money [June 30th] between Ralphie and Chance, and don't get me wrong -- I'm HAPPY I did! I only wish I had more to give!) (Just PLEASE don't be angry with me for writing about this loving and loveable guy in dire need?! That's all I ask!)

This is Chance and he is 10+ years old. His owners dumped him at a high-kill pound saying that he was just too old. (That just BURNS ME UP!! He NEEDS people to love him NOW more than ever!)

BaRNi (basset rescue facility) is full at 100 hounds and cannot take any more hounds. This is one of the reasons why we DESPERATELY need a senior rescue & sanctuary. (Devon's Dream [you may remember Devon from ABC's short-lived "Great American Dream" show] is www.firstgiving.com/devonsdream.) There are 30+ senior hounds currently at BaRNI/Daphneyland that could be helped by this sanctuary and make room to save more hounds.

Chance would have DIED today at that first shelter. It happens. DAILY! Bassets are not DISPOSABLE! They're living, loving creatures -- NOT DIRTY DIAPERS!

Fortunately, we found a short-term foster home, and some hounds are going home this weekend, which will make a rare, much-needed spot for him! Chance indeed got a second chance at life in his senior years, but others might not be so lucky. Others HAVEN'T been as lucky... Help us stop this barbaric practice? One Hound at a Time! PLEASE?!

Chance was horribly, egregiously neglected by his former owners and needs medical attention IMMEDIATELY for his eyes!
