He Kept It Quiet

          Have you ever read a scripture and certain words just came out and caught your attention? It was as if the words leaped out and spoke to you. Recently, I had one of those experiences and the word read me. Even though I was reading the word, the word read me to help me understand when I am, and the continuing evolution of who I am becoming.

          “Even then, God was preparing my mouth to speak like a sharp sword. He Kept My PURPOSE Quiet, Kept Me Safe in the shadow of His hand, He crafted me into a sharp-tipped arrow and tucked me away in His quiver. Isaiah 49:2, The Voice. The words ‘He Kept My PURPOSE Quiet’ spoke and became spirit and life and was imparted to me. It was one of those moments when the word is definitely written on the tablet of your heart. Those words were life to me as they came alive to me. I felt the spirit of God speaking to me at that very moment. Those words have carried life and produced an excitement that has continued over a couple of weeks now.

          ”It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63 KJV. Now the most amazing thing occurred a couple of days later. I found the same exact scripture from a posting on Facebook from the previous year. Obviously, I am not in the same place that I was a year ago, so that word spoke something that was totally different. I also wondered if there was something that I missed a year ago because I was not in the place to receive this revelation or was it simply the process of growth and maturing.

          This time I received several revelations from this word. One was from the beginning, ‘Even then.’  These two words speak to the moments in time, now as well as before, when I didn’t know or understand that God was and still is moving and working all things according to His design and plan for my life. He kept is quiet so that I would not get in the way or be fearful of what was ahead of me.

          The second revelation was ‘He was preparing me.’  Because I am in the hand of the potter, He makes me and molds me over and over again, even though I have become flawed and unusable while in His hand. He doesn’t throw me away. He reworks me into another vessel as it seems good to Him. An important key in the process is to remain in His hand.

          ‘He kept my purpose quiet’ is a powerful revelation as only He knows the truth of the whole matter until He decides to reveal some portion to me or others that can be trusted with secrecy and silence. There are some things that cannot be revealed because of timing. It could be a new thing specific to the timing that has been hidden. Many have the tendency to pray for the exceeding and abundantly. But when it comes are we ready to handle all that it encompasses?

          As ‘He keeps me safe in the shadow of His hand,’ He watches over me. The word shadow immediately gives thought to Psalm 91. But I also thought about being in the safe, secret, secure place of His pavilion. “That’s the only quiet secure place in a noisy world. The perfect getaway far from the buzz of traffic.” Psalm 27:5 MSG. He keeps me secretly and safely in His presence while molding and making me from distractions, conspiracies of the enemy, and even gossip.

          Preparation in the hand of God for the greater is a continuous process. We are molded and made daily. It is for us to progress into His image that we would be used as His vessels on the earth. I wrote an article in 2006 titled, “A Polished Shaft,” about the same scripture. Time has added more revelation that I now see with new eyes for the next.

So I went down to the potter’s shop and found him making something on his wheel. And as I

watched, the clay vessel in his hands became

flawed and unusable. So the potter started again

with the same clay. He crushed and squeezed

and shaped it into another vessel that was to his

liking. Jeremiah 18:3-4 Voice

You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, as My representative, He may give to you.

It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
