A pothole on the road to equality

Without suggesting women are responsible, it cannot be argued that during their rise to equality, there has been a steady and steep decline in America's ranking from the very top of all categories that measure great societies to completely out of the top 10 in such important categories as education. By any method of measuring it, it's clear America's greatest days are behind it and we are living through the demise of the Great Empire our forefathers built.

In my view, this has less to do with unqualified women doing jobs men used to do...women who would not be there except for government quotas, than it has to do with the fact that they have left their children unattended in order to go to work.

To realize how irrational the suggestion is that women have had no choice because it takes two incomes, consider the Great Depression when things were a hundred times more difficult for families than they are now. There was no mass desertion of the family by women then. What the female example has taught young people is that it's all about me, me, me. That's the attitude young people bring to work and the result in their jobs at industry, commerce, government and education...me, me, me.

Five minutes ago the following phrase was written on every other T-shirt you saw on a woman, "This I do for ME." How many times have you heard the opinion that your children cannot be happy unless you are? Being a mother was never easy, but from the beginning of time women have been prepared to sacrifice whatever was necessary to raise the next generation of responsible, contributing children. All gone today.

The most powerful lobby in the country is the teachers union (NEA). It pays NO service to what might benefit education. It is all about what might benefit teachers and the lobbying efforts in congress of this organization can be seen in SAT scores that now make us look like a third world country. Me, me, me.

I'm a very socially conscious individual consumed by the big picture and the future of our nation and our species. In my estimation the selfish attitude of women will, eventually, result in the demise of this great empire. The history books will write it that way a hundred years from now and it is all so clear to me in this moment, that it's hard to have a good attitude about the gender from where I sit.

Of course, each of us is consumed by a paradigm far larger than any individual. So I don't hold any PERSON responsible for the misdeeds of an entire gender. In my personal life I deal with each woman I meet as a victim -- not a victim of the economy, not a victim of men, not a victim of circumstance, but a victim of OTHER WOMEN, chiefly those in the vanguard of the feminist movement. I don't even blame the individuals who have steered the movement to its destructive position in society. I blame THE SUPREME COURT, but that's a story for another day.
