Often  when we cry out to God we wonder if He is hearing us. How can we know that He hears when we talk to Him? Isaiah 58:9a Then shall thou call and the Lord shall answer; thou shall cry, and he shall say, here I am. Sometimes we can take the scripture out of context and not realize that there are conditions to what God is telling us in the Bible. The first and foremost thing we need to know concerning our reading the Bible, is that we are truly reading what God wants to say to us. The Bible is God's love letter to us, a personal message for us. 2 Peter 1:20, 21TLB For no prophecy recorded in scripture was ever thought up by the prophet himself. It was the Holy Spirit within these godly men who gave them true messages from God. Now concerning the above verse in Isaiah we see the first part telling us that you will cry to him and he will say here I am. The second part of the verse tells us more. Isaiah 58:9b if thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity. The living Bible says it even more clearly. Isaiah 58:9b All you need to do is stop oppressing the weak, and to stop making false accusations and spreading vicious rumors! The point that I want to make here is that you are being heard by God when you pray. How can you know that? Jeremiah 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. We read over and over in the Bible where God is paying attention to what we are saying to Him, and what we are asking of Him. In the New Testament Cornelius had a vision, and when Peter visited Cornelius, Cornelius tells him that he is told in a vision that his prayer is heard. You can read that in Acts 10:4. Manasseh was heard by God in 2 Chronicles 33:12,13. Verse 12.....And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God.....Verse 13.....and heard his supplication. Read it for yourself so you can see what I am sharing with you is His truth. Psalm 116:1,2. I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore I will call upon him as long as I live. Psalm 27:4b I enquire in his temple. All of Psalm 27 is a prayer. Verse 7 specifically says 'HEAR, Lord when I cry with my voice.' Psalm 40:1b He heard my cry. Not only does he hear us but in verse 6 we see where God opens MY EARS to HEAR HIM! Matthew 21:22 and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Now how can we receive those things if our prayers were not heard? I have shown you many times in scripture where we see that God tells us He will answer when we ask. You see it both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. God is faithful; He will always carry through with His promises to you. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
