Why should we forgive? When you hold a grudge and choose not to forgive someone it is only hurting you, not them.

Why Forgive?
Most of us have been through some major pain from a difficult relationship. This kind of pain makes it almost impossible to overlook the offense done to us. When we choose to hold a grudge and not forgive someone it is only hurting us, not them. They go about their lives and probably never even know that the offense done to you has torn you up so bad. You are in pain over it and not them. What do you do? How can it ever be resolved? I can tell you that with God all things are possible. This following scripture is often used in reference to moving a mountain. Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, verily I say unto you, if you have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is don to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and cast into the sea; it shall be done. There are many forms of mountains. In this context we are referring to mountains as a difficuld experience in our lives. An unforgiving spirit is a mountain of great measure. To help you deal with this mountain, you can extend one of your arms out to God and extend your other arm out to that one who has offended you. Then cry out to God. Ask Him to be the mediator between you and them. Jesus will enable you to forgive. He will possibly cause that person to realize their offense that they inflicted upon you. Sometimes that one will come to you and ask you to forgive them. Even if or when they don't you are set free from that pain. It no longer has the grip on you that it once had. The chain is broken. You are healed because you have forgiven. It helps to see that when you walk in God's love that you will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. Read this verse in the living Bible verson. 1st Corinthians 13:4,5 Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong.
