Wake Up

Dear World,
You know, you are getting older. You are no new planet now, no spring chicken. Look at the scientific progress you've made. The beauty of your art, literature, music has abounded. Religious faith covers your every corner and yet, man's inhumanity to man continues in all it's brutality. Defenseless animals and children are abused. Wars and terrorism have not abated and weapons are more deadly than ever. There is still racism, sexism, religious intolerance, greed and dirty politics. Don't you think it's about time you begin to use the wisdom you should have assimilated through the centuries of your existence? Every year more creatures become extinct because to mankind they are expendable. Forests and rain forests are disappearing. Natural resources are dwindling. All it will take is one arrogant and ignorant finger on the nuclear button to end you. Look at all the positive progress and preservation that could have happened if all that aggression and hate had been abandoned and the energy directed toward the common good. Guess the old saying is true , "There's no fool like an old fool." Isn't it about time we all wised up? Even with all the scientific momentum and cultural expansion, the hearts of man are just as self-centered, cruel and violent as ever. History is repeating itself. Wake up World, time is running out and it's going to take a lot more than singing you a song and sharing a coke to change it.
