A short note to put in a sympathy card.

What to say? How to say it? Many people wrestle with these questions when faced with sending a sympathy card or note. A handwritten note adds an extra touch and shows that you did more than run in the store to purchase a card -- although purchasing a card is also appreciated.

Writing a note requires pulling a message from deep within -- what are you feeling? Translate those feelings into words and there's your note. The message should be from the heart -- taking what's in the writer's heart and depositing it in the receiver's heart.

the following note gives comfort and hope:

"You are in my thoughts and prayers. Only the love of God and time can heal a broken heart. Please don't forget that an ear is near -- God's ear. And, if you need me, just call."

In this note, you recognize the sorrow, inspire hope of a time coming when the pain will lessen, and offer help.
