Oprah Winfrey's war against poverty in South Africa deserves applause, not criticism. Poverty exists in the West Virginia coalfields as well as in Africa. Oprah is taking an active stand against poverty through education.

I’m very proud of Oprah Winfrey for contributing $40 million to build a school in Johannesburg, South Africa in the tiny town of Henley-on-Klip. I am reading in the papers and I have heard criticism towards Oprah saying things like, “Why she did not build this school in America?”
I applaud her efforts. She is working in a positive manner to erase poverty. Her funds are going into building a school. These funds will not dwindle away in administrative fees or to 3rd parties who are trying to decide what to do with the funds earmarked for a poverty region. We all know what Oprah is doing with this 40 million – it is going into building a leadership school in South Africa.
I applaud Oprah for making and keeping a promise to help people who need it the most. Six years ago she promised Mandela she would build a school in South Africa. She is keeping this promise

This was a boarding school, but the parents weren't told that once the child arrived, the parents were never allowed access to them again. NEVER. No visits, no phone calls, no letters or emails. You see, Oprah knows best, and these savages needed to be "weened" from their families and indoctrined into all that is Mother Oprah. The woman who Oprah hired to run this school and care for these children??... was later arrested for physical and sexual abuse against these kids on a monumental scale. I know these things because I lived in Johannesburg at the time. It's amazing what the American Press chooses and chooses not to cover when it comes to news. I guess they have the same mentality that Winfrey does... "If it doesn't effect or benefit me, then who the hell cares about it."
