I write because I enjoy it. I write because it is an outlet for me. I write for people to enjoy. I write to make people laugh, cry, or hopefully think. I write to share my experiences with others. I write poetry that comes from my heart. I write short stories that are mostly memior stuff, some fables, and some fiction.
I am not trying to write enigmatic verse that the reader does not understand. I am not writing to win literary awards, nor gain recognition.
I do not write with the aspiration of winning a Pulitzer. I do not write with hopes of publishing, or selling my work. In fact when asked, I freely give permission to reprint anything I have written. I do not write for any reason other than the pure enjoyment of it.
With that said, if my poetry seems transparent, that is because it is. I want my readers to be able to see beyond the words and give them a glimpse into my heart, which is where my poetry comes from anyway.
It's like a bug LOL, we just do it, we cant help ourselves, we must entertain others, enlighten, and uplift, and I always say, embrace the gift, and be glad of it...
The kind of work I as a beginner can relate to and understand!!
Okay some HEAVY works from others teached me a few new words....and I even tried to use those heavy words that are "Unspeakable" for my foreign tongue...to let people hear words they 'walt" to hear...lol!!
But I agree with you ...all writings from the heart are those you can read and "connect" with....not running to the dictionary to get the meaning....and by the time you are done with the poem, you have to read it again to "catch" the meaning of the write!!
Keep your pen filled and let the words flow my friend....the only way to get it OUT!!
I agree with Karen. I find your writing wonderful and have had my mother laughing so hard she hurt as I read some of your short stories to her.

i think we all write for a miriad of reasons-all of them valid--i like that you write about your life-i believe we should all share our stories-i think that the jerk that was on here last week shook a lot of folks up and made them doubt themselves-there is no need to apologize or worry about it-i for one, enjoy your writing
