My heart goes out to all the families that suffered a tragic loss at the Virginia Tech shootings. The loss of a brother, sister, son or daughter is never easy and time doesn't wipe away these tears of the broken hearted.
I think it angers me more then saddens me when I think about how the events taken place. The Professors at the school all knew about this sick individual but were afraid they would trigger something off so they said nothing.
The bastard wrote about things only a criminal mind would write about and even handed in these sick stories but school officials were praising the man for a job well done. I have read something he had written and figured out all the signs were there in black and white.
One student was being stalked by this man and he was leaving notes on her dorm room door. She reported him but again, nothing was done. We wait for things like this to happen. I attribute this to laziness and our chicken shit attitude had better change and real fast or we are in big trouble.
I remember the days when we ran to the aid of others without thinking; we just did what we had to do. When I lived in the city of Newark, New Jersey, we had more crime then L.A., Detroit and Philly combined. If I heard a scream in the wee hours I would jump out of bed and hit the streets to help. We all helped at one time or another but something’s changed. We are more worried about who the next American Idol is then the, American public.
This kid who killed so many and all the others before him was guilty of crimes against humanity. I do blame us for this unfortunate incident as well as the people doing these horrible acts. We don’t try to control our children any more; we just ignore them and hope they will just go away. This gives kids a freedom we never had growing up. These children are much older in the mind then we were at their ages plus the fact that they just get too much of everything.
Remember when getting a soda was a treat or some candy? Now we have many soda’s a day and we give the children way too much. We had one television set growing up and now families have on the average three in the home. We can’t blame video games or television but what we can put the blame on is ourselves.
Discipline is one key factor, because we just don’t do it anymore with the fear of the law getting on our case. Consistency is another key, if we do punish them they either get to go to a room filled with all they would ever need to be happy and this is not discipline this is a joke. We must take the world back into the hands of grown-ups. We need to stand up for what is right again and things can be changed around.
Virginia wasn’t the first tragedy; remember Columbine or many others before it or after? The children run out of control only because we as adults allow them to. If I was up against the so called “Trench coat Mafia”, I would have kicked them in the butts and sent them home crying to their mommies who probably would have gave me hell for doing that. When my child was young and being beaten my a mob of kids everyday, I decided to pay the school a visit. I saw my son run out of the school at lunchtime and about seven followed after him. I started to yell at them and was yelled at back. “Hey, you can’t come onto school property or touch us.” One kid said. I ran onto the school grounds which I pay taxes for and beat the crap out of the kid. Needless to say my son didn’t have a problem after that. The parents of the child never said a word because they knew what kind of a monster they were raising.
What happened at the school is nothing more then ignorance of the signs we are given but we ignore these signs and wish they would dissolve into the morning mist but they don’t they won’t. You have to do the right thing every day of your life. The more we all do right the more we can get back on the right track.
